I am learning about the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 because I want to aprehend a better understanding of how violence played a part in this strike and what effect this strike had on prior labor disputes.

A little confusing Jordan as an event can't influence something that happened "prior" to it. I like the focus on violence within the strike and maybe that's the direction your paper can go. Consider whether violence by strikers allowed them to accomplish more or less of their goals? Did violence against strikers lead to more sympathy for them, an increase in the labor movement, and/or accomplishing more or less of their goals.
